Many people forget about the many uses of concrete when designing a new home or commercial property or when trying to update an existing property. Cement is often a more cost effective and durable option than traditional flooring like carpet, laminate, hardwood, or even tile, and because it can be stained and patterned in many different ways, it can match the interior or exterior of any home or business. Once concrete is sealed, it is easy to maintain and will stay looking brand new for years to come. It is also not susceptible to the problems of traditional flooring when it comes to staining, trapping odors or moisture, or everyday wear and tear. Orleans Concrete offers a wide variety of flooring options from traditional stained concrete and sealed floors to overlays to decorative or solid color epoxy flooring. Concrete can also solve substrate conditions that can occur with common types of flooring as it overlays can help to cover imperfections and even out surfaces, and because cement is a poured material, it can raise a floor to any height requirements and create or eliminate slope when necessary.

As a design element, it has a myriad of other uses. Cement can be poured to form new steps, to create designer countertops, and to introduce unique design elements throughout a home or commercial property. If you want easily to enhance the look of patios, driveways, decks, or interior floors of your property, stamped concrete is an effective way to create a modern, elegant style for little additional cost. Orleans Concrete can even work with your own original design to provide a distinct look for your home or business.

Although concrete is a bit more expensive than other materials used for flatwork like asphalt, it is more durable, less susceptible to wear and tear, and keeps its integrity longer than other types of materials.

Cement Retaining Walls/Chainwall

As an area susceptible to all kinds of water damage, building a chain wall around the foundation of a building is a good solution to help you stay protected. A chain wall is a continuous wall made from concrete that lies on the foundation slab of a building, ensuring that the underlying structure is protected from water damage. Water damage can weaken the entire integrity of a structure, so if you want the added protection of a chain wall around your foundation, call for a free estimate today.

Concrete Removal

Concrete demolition can be dangerous and tedious work. A saw is used to cut and score the concrete into section. Afterward, a demolition hammer is used to break up the concrete into manageable pieces. Once broken the concrete will be removed from your property.

Site Work

Let’s face it the Earth is not flat. Neither is your job site. New Orleans Concrete Pros will make sure that your site is properly prepared for concrete installation. Different concrete installations require different types of substrate and drainage installed before concrete can be poured.

Site work usually begins with erosion control. During this process, our crew will make take measures to prevent erosion, damage to culverts, storm drains, landscaping and wildlife. Once this process is complete our team moves onto grubbing.

Grubbing is a process where roots and stumps are removed from the area. This must be done to ensure the concrete is being place on solid ground and to help prevent future sinking and subsidence. After Erosion control, and grubbing is finished rough and fine grading can commence.

Grading refers to moving material (mostly dirt) to make sure that proper elevation and slope is achieved for the project. Rough Grading uses heavy equipment to scrap and shape ground to achieve the needs slope and grade. After Rough Grading is complete A fine grade is done using hand tools to achieve a smooth finish on top of the ground.

Occasionally the surface of the ground is not stable enough, if this is the case our crew will use a substrate such as limestone and use compaction to make the substrate suitable for pouring.
